Leather Oil - Saddle Oil tin 450ml
Leather Oil is a vegan oil for looking after leather riding equipment, from saddles to reins. It is based on naturally derived plant oils that penetrate the structure of the leather, feed it and help it stay supple. The 450 ml tin comes with a brush for applying the oil evenly.
How to use Leather Oil
Start by cleaning and drying the leather surface thoroughly. Apply the oil with the brush, spreading it evenly over the inside and the outside of the leather, then leave it to dry. The application can be repeated if needed. For a complete care routine, clean the equipment first with the leather cleaner. Store the tin in a tack box or grooming box, away from sunlight, and use the oil up within two months of opening.
How often to oil your equipment
With new saddles a triple application is recommended, so that the leather is properly conditioned. Oil saddles every 4 to 6 months, or whenever the leather turns stiff and hard. Bridles, reins, martingales and girths we recommend oiling once a year at most. We do not recommend oiling leather riding boots, jodhpur boots or chaps, because the oil can soften the leather and the boots may drop and lose their perfect fit.
What is in the leather oil and how it works
The blend of three naturally derived plant oils penetrates the structure of the leather, feeds it and helps limit drying out, cracking and stiffening. With regular use the leather stays more supple and copes better with the weather. Vitamin E completes the formula. The oil also helps protect equipment against mould, which extends its life. The product is vegan, with no glycerine and no artificial additives.
Tin or spray: which version to choose
Leather Oil comes in a tin with a brush and as a convenient spray. The tin is practical in the stable, where it stands securely, and the brush lets you spread the oil precisely over the leather. The spray version does not spill, so it can be more convenient in transport and wherever a tin is easily knocked over.
