Hoof oil spray: everyday care without the effort

Strong Hooves spray contains exactly the same formula as the classic version in a can: a blend of four natural plant oils with vitamin E. The oil from the can is applied with a brush, while the spray is applied directly to the hoof. The practical difference lies in how stable the packaging is: the spray will not spill if the container is knocked over, whereas the can will. That is why the spray works better in transport, in the paddock and in the horsebox, while the can suits the stable, where it stands safely on a shelf.

How to use the hoof oil spray on your horse

Clean mud and dirt off the hoof. The surface may stay slightly damp during application. Then spray the hoof from a few centimetres away. The oil can be applied to the hoof wall as well as to the sole. Apply it around the heels and the coronet band too, because these areas particularly benefit from being fed and nourished. Use it regularly, ideally after every time you pick out the hooves. Store the product in a tack box or grooming box, away from sunlight.

Why natural plant oils strengthen a horse's hooves

The four plant oils in Strong Hooves supply the hoof with the essential fatty acids that regulate the moisture level of the hoof horn. Vitamin E additionally supports the structure of keratin, the protein the hoof is built from. Regular use of the oil helps prevent hooves from cracking, breaking and drying out excessively. Results are usually visible after a few weeks of consistent care.

Spray or can: which hoof oil to choose

Both versions contain an identical formula, so the choice comes down to the conditions in which you look after your horse. The oil from the can is applied with a brush, while the spray is applied directly to the hoof. The practical difference lies in how stable the packaging is: the spray will not spill if it is knocked over, whereas the can will. That is why the spray suits transport, the paddock and the trailer, and the can suits places where it stands safely, that is the stable and the grooming box.

Frequently asked questions

Can I spray the oil on the coronet band and the heels as well?

Yes, and it is in fact recommended. The coronet band and heel area particularly benefit from being fed, because that is where the new hoof horn grows from.

How often should the hoof oil spray be used?

The best results come from regular use after every time you pick out the hooves. In practice that means applying it 2-3 times a week, depending on how often you pick out your horse's hooves.
